Introduction

Welcome to our Database,here we represent you most the information about our ongoing project.Protobacteria consists of major six classes including alpha, beta, gamma, epsilon, delta and zeta proteobacteria.

Information about species were collected following a hierarchical approach reaching from classes to species.Information was extracted from different relevant and specific journals effectively published in Microbiology Society, ResearchGate, other renowned journals and the universally accepted global database of molecular biology i.e. National Institute of Biotechnology Information(NCBI). Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology is primarily referred for authentication.

Around 350+ genus and 2500+ species are covered in this project of all the five classes of Proteobacteria. On the way of our 6 months journey, we have done about 5000+ data entries including the details of different species and test results of the concerned species. Different journals were referred which were mostly available on Microbiology Society, Springer, Research Gate. LPSN, a database of approved and published names of species along with their genus was of great help. The Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology were also referred wherever possible.

We designed the whole web page in a month. There were times when the logics to read the excel sheet properly were practically impossible because the sheet consists of subspecies, species and genus names and a lot of blank spaces in between. But somehow we managed to get over it in a week. Getting the information from the web is the most difficult task along with the web design. To get the information of all the species was literally impossible to collect but we tried to refer all the books and journals available and somehow succeeded to complete the database.

The project is still in a continuous phase of progress as in due course of time the names of species are excluded and included between different genus. We were troubled by the situation a lot as there were a lot of species that were excluded and included in a new genus during our course of time.
