BRADYRHIZOBIUM KAVANGENSE

Class: Alpha Proteobacteria
Genus: Bradyrhizobium
Species: Bradyrhizobium kavangense
Description: Bradyrhizobium kavangense,a symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacterium from root nodules of traditional Namibian pulses.Cells are motile, Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-spore-forming rods (approx. 2–3µm long and 0.7µm wide).Colonies are circular, convex, translucent, beige-whitish and 0.2–0.8 mm in diameter after growth for 8 days at 28℃ on YMA. The mean generation time is approx.7.5 h in YMB at 28℃. Produces an alkaline reaction on YMA. Growth occurs at pH 5–9 and at 38℃, but not in the presence of 1 % (w/v) NaCl. Oxidase- and catalase-positive.
