| Description: | Methylocystis rosea,a novel methanotrophic bacterium from Arctic wetland soil, Svalbard, Norway.Cells are Gram-negative, polymorphic, straight or curved fat rods, 1.1–2.5µm long and 0.8–1.1µm wide. Colonies on NMS agar plates are pink–red pigmented. Cells occur singly or in shapeless aggregates, but do not form rosettes when observed by light microscopy. |
