| Description: | Pannonibacter phragmitetus,a novel alkalitolerant bacterium isolated from decomposing reed rhizomes in a Hungarian soda lake .Cells are motile, Gram-negative, straight to slightly curved rods (2.0–4.0×0.3–0.6µm). On Horikoshi alkaline agar medium, colonies are small (2–4 mm in diameter), whitish-beige coloured, circular, entire, smooth and convex. No methyl-red or Voges–Proskauer reactions occur. |
