Description: Cells are coccoid or rod-like, 04-04 x 0.9-1.7 µm. Lactate, pyruvate, butyrate, hydroxybutyrate, asparagine, methanol, ethanol and acetone are utilized. Carbohydrates and amines are not utilized. Nitrate reduced to N2. Growth observed at pH 6.0 and 9.0.
