PARACOCCUS KOREENSIS

Class: Alpha Proteobacteria
Genus: Paracoccus
Species: Paracoccus koreensis
Description: Paracoccus koreensis, isolated from anaerobic granules in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor .A Gram-negative, short rod- to coccus-shaped, non-spore-forming bacterium (Ch05T) was isolated from granules in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain Ch05T was shown to belong to the subclass α-Proteobacteria, being related to Paracoccus solventivorans (97·5 %), Paracoccus alkenifer (96·9 %) and Paracoccus kocurii (96·4 %). The phylogenetic distance from Paracoccus species with validly published names was always less than 96 %.
