ROSEOVARIUS ATLANTICUS

Class: Alpha Proteobacteria
Genus: Roseovarius
Species: Roseovarius atlanticus
Description: Roseovarius atlanticus strain R12BT, which was isolated from surface seawater of the Atlantic Ocean. The bacterium was observed to be rod-shaped, Gram-stain-negative, oxidase-positive and weakly positive for catalase. Growth was observed at salinities of 0.5–15 % and at temperatures of 4–45 °C. The isolate was incapable of nitrate reduction and hydrolysis of gelatin, Tween 80 and aesculin.
