SAGITTULA STELLATA
| Class: | Alpha Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Sagittula |
| Species: | Sagittula stellata |
| Description: | This species was isolated from a marine enrichment culture prepared with lignin-rich pulp mill effluent. The blebs and vesicles associated with the surface of this organism are similar to those described in other species, such as rumen bacteria, marine bacteria, anaerobes, and pathogens. This strain forms aggregates in liquid media both in the presence and absence of lignocellulose or cellulose. A lignin-transforming bacterium from a coastal environment. |
