Description: Hydrogenophaga atypica,Cells are Gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile and 1.5 µm long by 0.5µm wide, with rounded ends. Oxidative metabolism.Oxidase-positive. Unable to grow chemolithoautotrophically on H2 under the conditions described. Thiosulfate is notoxidized to sulfate. The fatty acid pattern is characterized by the presence of the fatty acids typical of the genus Hydrogenophaga.
