It is Gram-negative, and its type strain is LA31BT(=ATCC BAA-1022T =CIP 108450T).Cells are slightly curved rods, becoming helical as cells lengthen, 0.4-0.5 µm wide and 1.5-2.5 µm long. Cells stain Gram-negative.Colonies are smooth, off-white, circular.
