| Description: | Cells are Gram-negative, motile, straight rods. All isolated strains are catalase, oxidase and urease-positive. All are alkaline phosphatase-positive. Some strains reduce nitrates and some hydrolyse indoxyl acetate. Hippurate and gelatin are not hydrolysed. All strains produce H2S on TSI and SIM media. |
