ACINETOBACTER EQUI

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Acinetobacter
Species: Acinetobacter equi
Description: Cells are rods, 0.8μm wide and 1–1.5μm long, and stain Gram-negative. Aerobic, oxidase-negative and catalase-positive. Cells lack flagella. Pigments are not produced.Colonies appear red on CHROMagar Acinetobacter and grow up to 1–2 mm in diameter within 24 h at 37°C. Growth occurs on MacConkey agar and on bile-chrysoidine-glycerol agar after incubation at both 27°C and 37°C. Non-haemolytic on sheep blood agar, no gelatinase activity.
