Description: Gram-negative, strictly aerobic,oxidase-negative, catalase-positive, non-motile coccobacilli, capable of growth in mineral media with acetate as the sole carbon source and ammonia as the sole source of nitrogen but incapable of dissimilative denitrification.

Source: The strains studied were isolated exclusively from human clinical specimens (blood, urine, sputum, vaginal swab,throat swab).The type strain was isolated in 1978 from the urine of a patient in Leiden University Hospital, The Netherlands (Bouvet & Jeanjean, 1989).
