AEROMONAS AUSTRALIENSIS

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Aeromonas
Species: Aeromonas australiensis
Description: Motile rods with polar flagella (Fig. S8). Cells are Gram-negative, straight, non-spore-forming and non-encapsulated rods, 0.6–0.9μm wide and 1.8–2.7μm long, oxidase- and catalase-positive, reduce nitrate to nitrite and are susceptible to the vibriostatic agent O/129 (150mg).Colonies on TSA plus sheep blood are 1.5–2.0 mm in diameter, glossy, circular and beige in colour after 24 h at 35°C. No brown diffusible pigment is produced on TSA at 35°C.
