| Description: | Cells are rod-shaped, 1.0–1.5 x 2.0–4.0μm, motile and divide by binary fission. Growth occurs under anaerobic conditions in the light (photolithoautotrophy, photolithoheterotrophy and photoorganoheterotrophy). Internal photosynthetic membranes are of the vesicular type. The colour of phototrophically grown cultures is brown. |
