ALLOCHROMATIUM PHAEOBACTERIUM

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Allochromatium
Species: Allochromatium phaeobacterium
Description: Cells are rod-shaped, 1.0–1.5 x 2.0–4.0μm, motile and divide by binary fission. Growth occurs under anaerobic conditions in the light (photolithoautotrophy, photolithoheterotrophy and photoorganoheterotrophy). Internal photosynthetic membranes are of the vesicular type.
