| Description: | A. lusitana forms rod-shaped cells 0.4 to 0.7 μm in width and 1.8 to 2.2 μm in length. The optimum growth temperature is about 37°C, the maximum growth temperature is about 43°C, and growth does not occur at 45°C. The optimum pH for growth is between 6.5 and 7.3; no growth occurs at pH 6.0 or 7.5. |
