AZOMONAS AGILIS

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Azomonas
Species: Azomonas agilis
Description: This species has large, ovoid, ellipsoidal, or coccoid cells, often giving it a protist-like appearance. Cells are sedom found in paIRS.Cells are usually 2.5-6.4 μm long and 2-2.8 μm wide:sometimes giant cells upto 10.0-13.5 μm long have been observed. The cells are motile by means of peritrichous flagella. No microcysts are formed.
Synonyms: Azotobacter agile (sic) Beijerinck 1901, "Azobacter agilis" Beijerinck 1901, "Azotococcus agilis" (Beijerinck 1901) Tchan 1953.
Source: It was first isolated from Dutch(Delft) canal water.
