Description: Cells are curved rods, 2.9–4μm long and 0.3μm wide. Mesophilic and has xylanase, arabino-furanosidase, esterase, cellulase, pullulanase, pectate lyase,mannanase and laminarinase activities. Cells are motile by a single polar flagellum.

Source: The single and type strain,was isolated from beech leaf matter in Waldstreu (Faithful Forest),Germany (Stapp & Bortels, 1934).
