COLWELLIA ASTERIADIS
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Colwellia |
| Species: | Colwellia asteriadis |
| Description: | Cells are Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, motile rods (0.4–0.5×0.7–1.0 μm) with a single polar flagellum. Colonies are beige, circular, flat and smooth. Grows with 1–10 % (w/v) NaCl (weak without NaCl and no growth with 12–15 % NaCl), at 4–25 °C (optimum 15 °C) and at pH 4–10. Hydrolyses starch and chitin but not casein, Tween 80 or gelatin. |
