ERWINIA RUBRIFACIENS
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Erwinia |
| Species: | Erwinia rubrifaciens |
| Description: | Erwinia rubrifaciens is known as “Brenneria rubrifaciens”. Erwinia rubrifaciens is Gram-negative phytopathogen. It is rod shaped organism,Motile by means of peritrichous flagella. There is no data found in genome and 68 Nucleotide sequences are available for this ogranism. For futher information about sequences just click on link which is shown in "GenBank Accession section". |
| Synonyms: | Brenneria rubrifaciens(Wilson et al. 1967) Hauben et al. 1999. |
| Source: | Deep bark canker occurs in all walnut-growing areas of the Central Valley,California. Deep bark canker is most common and extremely on the Hartley cultivar. It also has been observed in several English walnut orchards located in the north, central and south of Italy.Survival of the bacterium in soil. |
| Pathogenicity: | Deep bark canker is a bacterial disease of English walnut trees caused by Erwinia rubrifaciens. Most walnut cultivars are suspectible but the widely planted Hartley is most common afflicted. The disease is cronical, and as infection advances slowly up the tree, cracks become dry and no longer produce ooze.In time affected limbs lose vigor, foilage is reduced, leaves senesce early and in severe cases the limbs die.Deep bark canker is usually found on walnut trees more than 8 yrs old. |
