HALOCHROMATIUM ROSEUM
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Halochromatium |
| Species: | Halochromatium roseum |
| Description: | Cells are rods, 2.0–3.0μm wide and 3.0–5.0μm long, and non-motile and cells divide by binary fission. Growth occurs under anaerobic conditions in the light (photo-lithoautotrophy/photoheterotrophy). Internal photosyn-thetic membranes are of the vesicular type. The colour of phototrophic cultures is purple–pink (rose). |
