METHYLOMONAS LENTA
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Methylomonas |
| Species: | Methylomonas lenta |
| Description: | Cells are aerobic, Gram-stain-negative rods (1.3–2.0μm long and 0.6–0.9μm wide), motile by a single polar flagellum, and possess intracytoplasmic membrane systems typical of gammaproteobacterial methanotrophs. Colonies appear white to pink. Resting stages are not observed. Cultures grow optimally at 20°C (range 15–28°C) and at an optimal pH of 6.8–7.3 (range pH 6.3–7.8). |
