Description: Gram-negative, vibrioid to spiral cells, 2·0–5·0 μm long by 0·4–0·8 μm wide, motile by a single polarly inserted, long (>5 μm) flagellum. Chemoheterotroph with strong preference for aliphatic carbon substrates. Aerobic. Able to grow under anaerobic conditions by nitrate reduction.
