RHEINHEIMERA MESOPHILA
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Rheinheimera |
| Species: | Rheinheimera mesophila |
| Description: | Cells are Gram-negative-staining, strictly aerobic and motile and occur mostly as single slender rods, but some- times in pairs. Cells are 1–3 μm long and 0.1–0.2μm wide. Colonies on TSA plates are cream-coloured, round, convex to slightly umbonate and have irregular margins.Positive for oxidase and catalase. Grows at 12–42°C (optimum, 30°C) and at pH 5.0–10.0 (optimum, pH 8.0) and tolerates up to 2 % NaCl. Starch and casein are hydrolysed, but not gelatin. |
