Description: Gram-negative,Facultatively anaerobic,Motile rods with peritrichous flagella It produce Catalase positive,Oxidase negative,Citrate positive. All serovars belonging to this subspecies are monophasic for the H antigen.
Synonyms: Salmonella enterica subsp. IIIa; Salmonella enterica serovar IIIa; Salmonella enterica IIIa; Salmonella choleraesuis subsp. arizonae; Salmonella cholerae-suis subsp. arizonae; Salmonella arizonae; Paracolobactrum arizonae.
Source: Isolated mainly from cold-blooded animals and environment,especially snakes.Arizona group organisms was first isolated from reptiles in America. Arizona group organisms are mostly isolated from lizards, snakes,turtles. Arizona group organisms rarely isolated from man.
Pathogenicity: It doesn't cause any disease in cold-blooded animals. May rarely give infections in infants and immunocompromised individuals.
