SCHINERIA LARVAE

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Schineria
Species: Schineria larvae
Description: Adjective larvae pertaining to the origin of the type strain isolated from Wohlfahrtia magnifica maggots).Cells are straight, short, single rods (2-3μmx0.8-0.9μm),non-motile and encapsulated, occurring singly at all ages. On agar media colonies are non-pigmented, small (1±3 mm in diameter), circular with entire margin and smooth surface. Strictly aerobic,NO₃¯ not reduced. Optimum growth occurs between pH 6 and 10.
