| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Thalassomonas |
| Species: | Thalassomonas viridans |
| Description: | Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, chemo-organotrophic,alophilic bacteria. Oxidase- and catalasepositive, motile by single polar flagella. Cells are rodshaped and approximately 1.5–2 µm long and 0.8–1µm wide. No growth without sea water or the addition of combined marine salts to the medium. Mesophilic.
