THERMOCHROMATIUM TEPIDUM
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Thermochromatium |
| Species: | Thermochromatium tepidum |
| Description: | Cells are straight to slightly curved rods. Multiply by binary fission, motile most likely by polarflagella. Gram-negative. Contain internal photosynthetic membrane systems of vesicular type in which the photosynthetic pigments bacteriochlorophyll a and carotenoids are located. Obligately phototrophic, photolithoautotrophic growth with sulfide or elemental sulfur as electron donor under anoxic conditions in the light. |
