THIOALKALIVIBRIO JANNASCHII

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Thioalkalivibrio
Species: Thioalkalivibrio jannaschii
Description: Cells are curved rods, 0.3-0.4 x 1-2μm, motile by a single polar flagellum. Cells often contain intracellular sulfur globes when grown with thiosulfate at low salinity. Produces yellow, membrane-associated pigment during growth at high salinity.
