Description: Cells are mostly coccoid or barrel-shaped, often in chains and aggregates, 0.8–2.0μm in diameter, often with large sulfur globules inside. Non-motile. Colonies are up to 3 mm in size, full of sulfur, turning reddish with age. Obligately chemolithoautotrophic.
