Description: Cells are rod-shaped, 1.5μm in diameter, 3-4.5μm long and motile. Gas vesicles are not formed. Cell suspension is brown in colour. Photosynthetic membranes are of the vesicular type. Contains bacterio- chlorophyll a.Lycopene is the dominant carotenoid.
