VIBRIO INHIBENS

Class: Gamma Proteobacteria
Genus: Vibrio
Species: Vibrio inhibens
Description: Cells are Gram-negative, motile, facultatively anaerobic and slightly curved rod-shaped (0.6 × 2.0–2.5 μm). Colonies on TSA supplemented with 1.5% (w/v) NaCl are cream coloured, circular and 1.5–2.0 mm in diameter. Growth occurs at NaCl concentrations between 1.0 and 8.0% (w/v), but not without NaCl or in the presence of >9.0% NaCl (w/v); grows at 10–35 °C (optimum 22 °C), but not at 5 and 40 °C; grows at pH 5.0–10.0 (optimum pH 7.0), but not at pH 4.5 or pH 10.5.
