Description: Vibrio metschnikovii is a gram-negative, oxidase-negative bacillus.The strain of V. metschnikovii isolated was a gram-negative, curved rod. This facultative aeroanaerobic bacillus formed opaque colonies (diameter 3 mm) on blood agar in 24 h and showed complete hemolysis.

Source: Isolated from fresh water,brackish,marine waters,but rarely from human clinical specimens.
Pathogenicity: Rare Cause of Wound Infection,A fatal case of septicemia in a patient with liver cirrhosis,renal insufficiency,and diabetes is observed. A second case in a 82-year-old woman with septicemia,respiratory problems,and infected leg lesions is reported
