Description: L. n. vesica, the bladder, a bladder-like tumor, a blister; N.L. fem. adj. vesicatoria, causing a blister. X. vesicatoria occurs widely in tomato and Capsicum growing areas in the warmer parts of the world. It is,however,absent from glasshouse production in cooler areas at least in Europe. X. vesicatoriais an aerobic,mobile,Gram-negative rod occurring singly or in pairs,0.6 x 1.0-1.5 μm,with a single polar flagellum.
