XENORHABDUS NEMATOPHILA
| Class: | Gamma Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Xenorhabdus |
| Species: | Xenorhabdus nematophila |
| Description: | Gram-negative; asporogenous rods. Cell size is highly variable within and between cultures, ranging from 0.3 by 2.0 μm to 2.0 by 10 μm and occasionally with filaments 15-50 μm in length; spheroplasts appear in the last third of exponential growth. Not pigmented. Phase I adsorbs Neutral red, forming brown colonies on MacConkey agar, and bromothymol blue ; produces lecithinase. Entomopathogenic. |
