| Source: | It has been found in fish,and contains several biotypes. This organism is isolated from freshwater, aquatic animals,domesticated and wild animals,foods,and humans,including those with gastrointestinal disorders. It is not considered of clinical relevance, being isolted from humans in a routine manner. |
| Pathogenicity: | The pathogenicity of Yersinia intermedia in man and animals is not clearly established. They tend to behave more like opportunistic pathogens than true pathogens. |
