Description:
Citrobacter is a genus of Gram-negative coliform bacteria in the Enterobacteriaceae family.These bacteria can be found almost in soil, water, wastewater, human intestine etc. Citrobacter is an opportunistic pathogen, not only in stools but also in urine, sputum, and specimens from bacteremia, meningitis, otitis media, wounds, abscesses, the throat and autopsies. Citrobacter also shows the ability to accumulate uranium by building phosphate complexes.
