Description Enterobacter sacchari, a nitrogen-fixing bacterium associated with sugar cane.Cells of this are motile rods with peritrichous flagella. Gram stain is negative. Colonies are cream on YDC agar and dark pink with translucent margins on TZC agar. Cells grow at pH 4 10 or in the presence of 0 4 % NaCl. Optimum growth occurs at 28  32 uC and pH 7.

Pathogenicity It is not a pathogen but a nitrogen fixing bacteria.
