Description Cells are gram-negative, oxidase-negative, catalase-positive, fermentative (producing acid but not gas) Rods, these are motile by means of peritrichous flagella.It forms water-soluble pink pigmented colonies. Synonyms Erwinia persicina (corrig. Hao et al. 1990); Erwinia nulandi.
Habitat/Source It can be isolated from, but are not pathogenic for, tomato, banana, and cucumber.One Erwinia persicina strain was isolated from a human (O  Hara et al., 1998).Erwinia persicina found in bean in the United States and south-eastern Spain and also found in tomato, banana and cucumber in Japan.
Pathogenicity Erwinia persicinus is pathogenic for bean pods and seeds.
