Description Escherichia fergusonii is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped species of genus Escherichia it is closely related to the species Escherichia coli, it was first isolated from samples of human blood.Mainly case reports on E. fergusonii associated with disease in individuals of veterinary or human origin have been reported and only very few more extensive studies became available.
