Description It is a Gram negative rod-shaped bacterium.It is diphasic in flagellar expression.It contains at least 11 serovars (Popoff et al., 1998).This new subspecies was previously Salmonella group 6.
Synonyms Salmonella enterica subsp. VI;Salmonella enterica VI;Salmonella choleraesuis subsp. Indica.
Habitat/Source Isolated mainly from cold-blooded animals and environment.
Pathogenicity It is pathogenic for birds,and in mamals.
