Description "Yersinia mollaretii" the name was given to this species in honor of "Henri H. Mollaret",head of the National Yersinia Center at the Pasteur Institute in Paris,for his years of study on the classification and epidemiology in the genus Yersinia.Formerly called Yersina enterocolitica biogroup 3A (Bercovier et al., 1978). It gives negative Voges-Proskauer reaction.
Synonyms Yersinia enterocolitica biogroup 3A;Yersinia mollaretii Wauters et al. 1988.
Habitat/Source Yersinia mollaretii strains have been isolated from human stool specimens,meat,raw veg-etables, soil,drinking water, and lack virulence markers.
Pathogenicity There is no evidence of pathogenicity for humans.
